Three

This boy can dance.

Shifting his body between and around Riley and Sean, he’s free of the shackles of the dinner table, restraint I helped impose on him. I won’t bullshit myself—the power trip was heady, and there’s most definitely a sexual energy I crave to explore with this stranger. Still, watching him like this, like an eagle released from captivity, I’m even more aroused by his joy and graceful self-expression.

And I’m not alone in my admiration. Heads turn on the dance floor, and there’s a buzz around the room as people take notice.

Mine!

Marcus, you’re losing your mind!

I banish myself to the bathroom, hoping a splash of cold water on my face and a long, hard look in the mirror might erase this insane fixation on the young hottie. I’m feeling slightly more rational after a long piss and a much-needed break. I have a decision to make. I can either take my sorry ass upstairs and beat off vigorously to whatever might have been, or I can go out on a limb and find out if we might work.

It’s Edward’s wedding, not the Full Moon Saloon, I remind myself. A little decorum is in order. I can always look the guy up later, get the scoop on his past, do this the safe way. Yes, that’s the way to go.

My resolve lasts as long as it takes me to find him on the dance floor, sandwiched pelvis-to-pelvis-to-pelvis between Riley and Sean and thrusting his hips like a porn star.

Jesus.

I’m not going anywhere—not yet, anyway.

Returning to the empty table, I take the seat next to his, and I watch and wait. He’s utter perfection on the dance floor—fluid, graceful, uninhibited. Our eyes meet, and this time he holds my gaze. If he feels summoned, he doesn’t appear compelled to obey just yet, and that works for me. When he returns to his seat—if he returns—he’ll be open to hearing my offer.

One thumping beat gives way to the next; I can’t even tell where the song breaks are. The boy gives Sean a kiss on the cheek and leans in to tell Riley something. Riley nods at me, delivers some kind of response back, and gives the boy a swat on his ass that sends him to the edge of the dance floor.

As the boy saunters toward the table, he moves inward again, looser than before, but most definitely shifting back into submission. His shirt glistens with sweat, and his dark hair is plastered to his forehead. Hot and sweaty absolutely work for me, as my greedy cock is quick to point out.

Without a word, he sits down in the chair I've slid out slightly for him. His far hand reaches for his water, and I stare without apology while the entire glassful passes between his lips and through the muscular canal of his throat. He doesn't look up from the table after he returns the glass to its place.

“You’re not my type,” I inform him.

He flashes me a pair of widened eyes, looks back down at his plate, and remains silent.

“I know.” I continue on, a runaway wagon picking up speed as it rolls downhill, “Then what am I doing here, right?”

Not a trace of emotion reveals itself, but his muscles tense.

I shake my head, as bewildered as he is. “The thing is,” I start, leaning toward him in my chair, “I’d really like to see your eyes.”

There’s no turning back now. If he doesn’t respond, I’ll be forced to retreat, say my goodnights, and—

The boy swivels his head slowly and lifts his face. Deep brown with flecks of gold, his eyes attempt to hold my gaze, but he’s skittish as hell. I need to know what’s happened to him, need to understand why he doesn’t feel worthy of looking me in the eye. I need to understand why he left all his joy on the dance floor, and by God, I need to fix that.

“Do you know who I am?” Chances are, Riley has filled him in if he didn’t already know.

The boy nods. I have yet to hear him speak. This is troubling, but I’m pleased he knows who I am, and he’s engaging with me.

“That’s good, but you have me at a disadvantage . . .?”

“Dane,” he supplies.

Dane. I like that.”

A lot.

He blinks at me a couple times.

“I like watching you dance. Did you see me watching?”

His focus lifts again, then moves off. He nods.

“You liked me watching, didn’t you?”

Those exotic eyelashes sweep his cheeks again and he nods.

“Good, because I’d like you to dance some more—for me. Would you do that for me, Dane?”

He rubs his hands along his thighs and nods again, about to dart back over to the dance floor. Sliding my business card along the table with one finger, I say, “Before you go, here’s my cell number and three references. When you’re done checking me out, if you’re interested in pursuing this, send me an e-mail—no later than Wednesday at three, and we’ll go from there.”

Dane takes the card and tucks it away inside his jacket.

“I hope that’s not a rental,” I tease. No response.

Careful not to touch him, I lean closer and place my lips right next to his ear. “After I leave the reception, you have my permission to go into the bathroom and rub one out. Think of me.”

The boy gasps and springs from his chair. Without looking back, he heads for the dance floor.

  4. Every chapter is just going to pull me deeper and deeper down, my dear. This chapter was a perfect example of Marcus and his "sex" oreo status. He's all smoothness and firm hand on the outside but still a little goofy and excited on the inside. I love it.

His transition from Marcus "Friend of the newlyweds" to Marcus "Dom extraordinaire" was so perfect. Dane's responses to him, both conscious and unconscious were delicious also. I can't wait to find out all the complexities he brings with him. So far he seems a good match for Marcus. And amen to the fattening up (from previous chapter, I know but YAY!).

Favorite line...Careful not to touch him, I lean closer and place my lips right next to his ear. “After I leave the reception, you have my permission to go into the bathroom and rub one out. Think of me.” ... Dude, it gave me goosebumps. Seriously shivered when I read it.

  6. Oh Born, you're spoiling me! 3 updates in 3 days! A girl could get used to this.. haha. (I won't hold my breath for that to continue).

I love that Marcus had decided to take it easy and figure it out later right before seeing Dane dance. and then he sits down in the seat next to Dane's. Game on! lol and I really like that Dane lit up like that on the dance floor. makes him much more interesting to seem calm and timid at the table, and at ease and flirtacious with his friends on the dance floor.

Favorite: "I need to know what’s happened to him, need to understand why he doesn’t feel worthy of looking me in the eye. I need to understand why he left all his joy on the dance floor, and by God, I need to fix that." Aw, I want Marcus to fix him too. or help him fix himself. :)

Hmm, so if Riley filled Dane in on who Marcus is, just how much does he know?? I can't remember how much Riley knows about Edward's experiences.. I seem to remember Edward saying he used to indulge Riley with more details than he should have, but I have to imagine Riley wouldn't know about Edward and Marcus's time together...

I was a little surprised that Marcus passed over his card and references like this was almost a business transaction, but if he had asked Dane out for a coffee instead it would have set a very different tone. If Dane knows who he is, they might as well dive in. CANT WAIT to see what Dane's e-mail says, assuming he does e-mail him!?!?! lol

    1. Ah...you like Dane's complexity. THANK YOU!
Great question- again- about what Riley knows about Marcus and Edward's relationship. Riley is Edward's best man, but Marcus is also at the wedding. I once envisioned a bachelor party scene but honestly, I could not get Charlie, Carlisle, Marcus, Riley, Sean and Edward in one place in my head. IT BLEW MY MIND!!

YES to the way you're viewing the transaction as professional vs. intimate and hold that thought! These two are not on coffee terms at the moment. Dane has a BIG decision to make. Guesses anyone? ;) Nah, he'll probably just toss out the card. :)
      MWAH!

  11. I adore Marcus. Love his conversation, along with his musings, with and about Dane. *sigh* If Marcus cannot have the love of his life that is Edward, and we all know that he can't, then he deserves someone who will feel exactly about him as he does them. If all that even makes sense.

  12. Marcus is one smooth cat. Him telling Dane that he's not his type but wants to see Dane dance on the dance floor. Something about Dane is making me curious. Why is he so comfortable on the dance floor but so shy around Marcus?

  16. Marcus is falling hard for the SYT. I think Sweet Thing is a little overwhelmed right now. I'm so looking forward to his back story.

"Your not my type". My now husband told my roommate I wasn't his type. I still tease him about that Waaaaaay too many years later.

    2. So Dane will hold Marcus's gaze while on the dance floor, his happy place - his comfort zone- the place that he is master of. You know I love everything about this story - but it's these little details that make this story standout. ♡♡

  17. Ahhhhh god... I'm already a fucking goner for these two. Maaaan Dane seems like he was born to submit. It seemed like he slready belonged to Marcus, what with the way he just couldn't meet his eyes until asked/told to. I didn't really see that out of fear or vulnerability. But as an act of relinquishing control or authority. Whether Dane was aware he was doing it or not, he was already offering himself to Marcus.

I love Marcus' approach. Cool, calm on the outside. Crumbling and needy on the in. Giving sub boy an out and hoping by almighty god, he doesn't run away. I like that sub boy is already in that place where he can't deny Marcus. He's already in obedient sub mode, tripping over his feet to get to the dance floor and dance... knowing that Marcus is watching and thinking about him and loving it. Gah... I love how Marcus is slowly exercising his power without totally overwhelming sub boy... yet! There will be time for full dominance.

    AND I CANNOT FRIGGIN WAIT!!!!

    1. Oh, thou art wise, Packy! You are so right about Dane belonging to Marcus from that very first encounter, or even before? And YES, fear had nothing to do with it, not where Marcus is concerned. Heehee, LOVE your enthusiasm! So fun to relive the story with you.xx
