Good morning, Master.

i hope your sleep was as restful as mine. Your massage has followed me through the night and into this new day. You spoil me, Master.

Which brings me to my confession.

i fear the next five days without Your touch will pass slowly.

yours,
dane
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An eternity for me as well, Dane. But is it Master’s hand and cock he craves or my company along with them?

Ah yes, more foolish ramblings to add to my collection. Tread carefully, old man.

Dane,

A confession to warm a Master’s heart. Playing all day would be so much more fun; alas, real life intervenes. “Spoiling you” gives me great pleasure. Expect more of the same.

Dance well, my boy.

Warmly,
Marcus

Good morning, Master.

i've been bursting to share my good news with You! Last night after the show, the stage manager approached me to say that he "and others" have noticed a "certain passion in my dancing" lately and that i should keep up the good work!

The credit is Yours.

Thank You, Master.

Gratefully yours,
dane

Dane,

I could not be more pleased for you! I will admit to a rush of pride at your news, but do not attribute your success to any source outside of yourself. The light lives inside you; my role is merely to help you uncover it.

While I’m chastising—and know that I smile as I do—you woke early if you slept at all. You seem to need reminding that morning emails are your only assignment, but you should feel free to communicate with me at any time. You need not worry you’ll disturb me. Your well-being is my first concern. Stewing is forbidden, Dane, even if the juices are sweet!

Dance your heart out, my boy.

Warmly,
Marcus

The doorbell rings a few minutes before nine. On the other side, I find a couple, glowing with suntan and post-honeymoon bliss.

“Ahh, the picture of marital bliss. Welcome back to the real world, kids.”

Edward laughs out loud. “Right, Marcus. This is the real world—a sprawling house in the suburbs with a full-on dungeon in the basement.”

“Get in here before the neighbors hear you!”

They tumble through the doorway, bringing with them puffy clouds of laughter steam.

“Marriage agrees with you both,” I say, causing the two to smile at each other in that secret language that only the most fortunate lovers share. I’m privy to more of their secrets than anyone outside of their union; still, it’s impossible not to feel like the squeaky third wheel in their presence.

Edward opens his arms first, pulling me into the chilly folds of his anorak. He smells of the city—burnt chestnuts, grilled onions, and greasy funnel cake. “You look good, too, old man.”

“Oh, Edward, stop calling him that. You’re gonna give the poor guy a complex. Move over; it’s my turn,” Bella fusses.

Edward steps aside with a hearty guffaw. “Listen to this, will ya? Married for fourteen days, and already I’m a hen-pecked husband!”

“Dear God, not that again!” she protests as she wraps her arms around my back.

“Word to the wise,” I advise her loud enough for Edward to hear, “you might not want to threaten your husband’s manhood just before entering the dungeon with your Master.”

Bella gives me a peck on the cheek as we move apart. “Always looking out for me.”

“It’s what I do.”

The three of us grin at each other until Edward breaks the moment with characteristic bluntness. “Tick tock, Mrs. Cullen. Off you go to your preparations in the sub room.” Removing her coat, he adds, “I will be down to collar you in fifteen minutes.”

“Yes, Master,” she answers with a reverence not evident earlier. Edward answers her with a deep, adoring gaze that stirs my heart. “Marcus, thank you again for this lovely gift.”

“You are more than welcome, sweet Bella. Enjoy.” With a parting glance at her Master, she takes off toward the dungeon while Edward unzips his coat and hangs both in my hall closet.

“I see she didn’t dump your ass for the cabana boy.”

“Actually, it was the windsurfing instructor I was a little worried about.”

“Mmhmm, I’ll bet.”

Edward chuckles behind me as I lead him into my study and gesture for him to take his customary seat. Maybe it’s the occasion bringing out my sentimental bone, but I can’t help asking, “Who would’ve believed we’d come full circle like this?”

“I don’t know about full circle.” Edward laughs. “Wouldn’t that be you getting ready for me downstairs right now?”

My dick twitches, and I’m grateful for the heavy desk between us. “Christ Almighty, Edward, you can’t go around—”

Ding!

The pop-up bubble at the corner of my screen alerts me to Dane’s incoming message.

“Talking about taking a leather crop to your flat ass?” Edward says.

“What? Who’s talking about . . . What do you mean flat?”

“Oh, man,” he says, craning his neck around the side of my monitor. “Did you forget to take your gingko pills ag—message from Dane Carmichael? Wow, you work fast!”

I shrug, pretending my eyes aren’t burning to return to the screen.

Nothing is lost on Edward. Grinning, he sits back in the chair, folding his hands behind his neck, crossing an ankle over the opposite knee, settling in for a long, comfortable stay. “Please . . . don’t let me keep you.”

Irritation is very swiftly outmuscled by curiosity. I fix a mask of nonchalance though I suspect Edward won’t buy it for a second.

Forgive me, Master, but i guess you might say i'm "stewing" again. It doesn't feel right to accept the praise alone. You commanded me to dance well, and i did. my passion is for You, Master. my light shines for You.

i fear i overstep with these feelings. Please tell me if they are unwelcome or incorrect.

i have matinee and evening performances today, and i have to leave soon, but i will check my phone between shows.

yours,
dane

“Fuck!” My fist slams down onto the thick mahogany desk top, rattling the contents of my pencil cup.

“Hey, you okay?” Edward pops out of his chair, the teasing grin fully obliterated by concern.

“Shit! Sorry, Edward. I forgot you were there.”

“Wow. Now I’m really worried about you.”

I collapse into the back of my leather chair and scrub the heels of my hands into my tightly-pinched eyes. “Maybe you should be,” I mumble.

“You want to talk about it . . . or you want me to get the hell out and mind my own business?”

“There’s a girl in my dungeon who should not be kept waiting.”

He’d no sooner forget his submissive new bride than cut off his right arm, but he’s kind enough to simply tip his wrist and say, “I have twelve minutes, and they’re all yours.”

I let out a deep breath and gesture for Edward to sit down again. “It’s Dane. I’ve taken him on.”

Edward slides forward, crossed arms resting on his knees. Edward doesn’t even register surprise. “Okay.” Gone is the playful teasing.

“I’m not myself around him.”

He cocks his head, carefully considering his next words. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but is that a bad thing?”

“That’s a very good question.”

Edward smiles. “I learned from the best.”

“Edward, I cannot fail this boy.”

“Why do you suddenly doubt yourself?”

“As you know, the boy is severely damaged.”

The corners of his mouth bend downward. “I feared as much, but still, Marcus, you’re the very best there is. If anyone can heal him, it’s you.”

“He requires a delicate touch.”

“That’s perfect. You’re Mr. Finesse.”

A guffaw flies out of me. “I’m glad you think so.”

“Marcus,” Edward starts, “you do delicate better than anyone I know. On the other hand, you can crack that whip like a fucking lion tamer. Point is, you never seem to fail to give your sub exactly what he needs.”

“He’s admitted to having certain feelings for me.”

The sudden shift in the conversation straightens Edward in his chair. “Oh. Do you think he’s confused, maybe doing some kind of transference thing? That would make sense, especially where your work with him is so emotionally charged.”

“I don’t know what to think,” I grumble, “and I don’t know what to tell him.”

“What’s your gut telling you?”

My gut is twisted up, and there’s no use lying to Edward—or myself. “I’m afraid I may not be objective where Dane is concerned.”

“Because you have feelings for him.” Damn him; he’s known from the start.

“Could’ve saved me the drama, you know—especially since we’re short on time here.” I can’t hold back my smile. They say confession is good for the soul, and I’ve just let loose a doozy.

“What’s wrong with having feelings for each other? You know, sometimes these things even work out.” His smug smile is for my benefit, to help lift the boulder off my chest.

“Let’s start with the fact that he’s a die-hard submissive, and despite all he’s been through, he trusts too damn easily.”

“He trusts you easily. There’s a difference. When Dane arrived at the shelter, he was a closed-off mess who would barely speak to the social workers. He trusted no one. As far as I know, he hasn’t so much as spoken to another dom, let alone agreed to scene. If he’s opened up, it’s you, and I can vouch for the boy’s good taste. In fact, I already did.”

“Yeah, Dane told me. Meant to say thank you.”

“I told him about you the night Sean introduced us. I couldn’t let him go on thinking his abuser was typical. Poor kid probably wanted to lick your shoes at the wedding.”

“Actually, he probably would have.”

Edward nods solemnly. He doesn’t share the heart of a submissive any more than I do, but he sure as hell understands and respects it. “Okay, Marcus, so what else is holding you back? The age thing?”

“Oh, you noticed.”

Edward folds his arms across his chest and scowls.

“Come on, Edward. He could do a whole lot better than a silver-haired dude with a thick waist and . . . a few wrinkles.”

“Is that all you are then, Marcus, a sack of skin and hair?”

I wave off his predictable objection. “Look, he can’t possibly sort out his feelings in just a couple weeks. He’s enthralled right now.”

“And you’re not?”

Edward’s goading me, and it’s working. My frustration level is rising by the second and so is my voice. “I’m not the vulnerable one here, Edward!”

My words ring in the still air between us. He doesn’t have to point out the obvious.

Edward checks his watch again and stands. “Marcus, I love you. You deserve to be happy. Don’t close yourself off to the possibility.”

I rise, too. “But what about the boy?”

“The boy thinks you’re hot, Marcus. Did you not see the way he looked at you? That was before you wowed him with your dungeon skills . . . or whatever you two were up to while I was driving the road to Hana and choking down poi.”

“I’m hot, eh?” I cross my arms over my chest.

“Fuck, yeah, you are. If I were a gay, submissive man, I never would’ve let your ass get away.”

“Goddamn you, Edward. You are such a tease.”

“In all seriousness, Marcus, that boy is one lucky son-of-a-sub.”  Edward smiles and reaches out his hand to squeeze my shoulder. “Don’t be a damn fool. I’m going downstairs to take care of my submissive. You do the same.”

Kudos to my clever readers who figured out a visit from Edward and Bella was coming soon! Sorry if you were hoping to see them play in the dungeon...I'm afraid Marcus isn't privy to that session. *wink*

So, what do you think about Edward's advice? And all those FEELINGS? Loving your responses to the story so much. Thank you all. xo

    1. Aww, Edward. Why couldn't you have been a gay, submissive man? Oh, I KNOW. You're a raging straight DOM! ;) Thanks, Pates!

  2. Good advice from one who understand having feelings for his sub to Marcus here! It was wonderful to hear from Edward and Bella here even if we don't get to see them in the Dungeon. And why would we, anyway. True, this is Marcus' story and he isn't there with them, thank God. I get that Marcus in insecure about this and, frankly, seems thrown a bit. I think his years at this life will come in handy for him in trying, and I suspect succeeding, to handle this first time rush of feelings for his lovely sub. Kudos to you for writing him this way!

  3. *siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I loved so much about this chapter! There is just something amazing between Edward and Marcus. I can't put it into words, but you sure can!

First though, I am longing to see more of Marcus's promised spoiling of Dane- I think it will be a good thing for both of them!

You know how much I was wondering about how it would be when the newlyweds arrived for their dungeon time and I loved that our brief taste of them incorporated many of things I was waiting for: the three of them being light-hearted with each other, a little teasing from Marcus (a la what we saw in this story's prologue), and a real heart to heart between E and M.

I think Edward's advice to Marcus was spot-on: reminding him that he's great at what he does, that he deserves happiness if this is the way he wants it, and most importantly that he's already worked wonders with Dane. As Edward mentioned, Dane has opened up to trusting Marcus, when he barely got anywhere with anyone else in the past few months- this is beyond significant, and poor Marcus is afraid that he can't be objective with Dane? Maybe that's not what Dane needs/ wants (deep down). Only time will tell. :)

    1. I loved putting E in the position to give Marcus some of his own wise counsel. Marcus has done so much for him over the years, and taught E much of what he turns around and teaches M.

As for objectivity...highly overrated, don't you think?

  4. Ahhh Edward the sage! He is wise, and knows how much it's a wonderful thing to have feelings for one's sub. Marcus needs to get his head around the fact he is exactly what Dane needs not only in the Dungeon but outside of it as well. Great update :)

  6. Goodness, where to start;

the emails from Dane were so revealing, he is showing his hand and obviously such a sensitive boy, his passion is showing in his dancing. How is Marcus going to reply? Marcus' response is very important, he could damage Dane's fledgling confidence with just a few words. Can't wait to see how you handle that.

And then we have Marcus' concerns about how damaged Dane is and if Dane's feelings are true and also Marcus' insecurities about himself, his age etc.

Can they last five days without seeing each other? It seems an awful long time Born....

Finally how nice to see Edward and Bella again, I hope Edward was able to get his mind in the game for her after his deep conversation with Marcus, I wanted to glance at my watch too. :)

Thank you for a great chapter

  10. I do SO enjoy reading conversations between Edward and Marcus. *sigh* Love those two together even if they are not together "together", kwim? Marcus loves and respects Edward so I know that Marcus will take Edward's words to heed. Edward is right anyways. Marcus is hot and not just a sack of skin. He needs to stop referring to himself as old. He is awesome.

  12. Interrupted again, this time to look at lawn mowers sigh, I just want my boy love! After all these years of being the dominant Dom in his relationship with Edward I wonder how it feels to bow down to the Master of something he doesn't know. So much for the "old" man to deal with.

  13. Love the Edward Marcus interaction. Who doesn't. While I know M has always respected E I believe he will see them as more equals after this. He has someone else he wants, he's in a more emotionally vulnerable position. He and Edward should develop a stronger friendship. This should be easy for E as he just has to tell him everything M told E for B. Did that make any sense?

Is bursting stewing? It didn't strike me odd that Dane waited until the morning to tell M about the compliment. Stewing implies worry to me. Is that just me?

I almost expected someone to slap someones ass at the end, but don't know who would have done the slapping. Ha

    1. I agree, Marcus falling for Dane does even things out a little bit for him and Edward, though I feel like they probably are fairly even by now. In fact, Marcus respected Edward from his very first visit, and the affection that has grown between the two men has only enhanced that.

I'd say you're right about the connotation of stewing being something negative, but Marcus is expanding the definition here to accommodate Dane keeping anything from him. Your comment about the ass slapping really cracked me up. If Marcus weren't so freaked out right now, I'd totally agree! I think it was important for Edward not to act like too much of an ass right there at the end!

  15. Once again I'll say how much I love Edward and Marcus' relationship remained so clear cut even given their history... especially given their history. Love the advice Edward haD to give him on how to deal with both Dane's as well as his feelings toward one another. Marcus doesn't seem to have that many people near and dear to him so it makes me so much more grateful that he has Edward and Bella.

I love that Marcus' touch on Dane has shone in other aspects of his life, outside of their relationship. How he's excelling in his dance now. I bet he's even waking with an extra pep in his step now. Gah love seeing him like this. I'm afraid that while he's finally ssettling into himself is exactly when Marcus seems to be on the cusp of breaking down. But he will hold himself together, if not for himself, for his beautiful sub.

Find myself wondering if you'll write a scene where things get so overwhelming for Marcus (physically or emtionally) that he has to safe word! I keep thinking of a situation where he'll yell ENOUGH! GAHHHHHHHH

okay another great chapter. Loved having E/B around for a bit.

    1. I loved playing with E and M together. Having those two converse is always a real treat for me, for some reason. Marcus has good friends, but Edward gets every aspect of him like nobody else ever could, and the deeper Marcus goes with Dane and the more confused he becomes, the more he really needs a sounding board he can trust.

I'm so pleased you are enjoying how Dane's life outside their physical relationship is changing and blossoming. He is finding himself in every aspect of his life, opening like a flower.

I'd love to hear how you'd cast such a scene for Marcus to safe word. That was part of the fun of this story, hearing those thoughts from readers. Feel free to share at any time!

  17. edward's advice was perfect and exactly what marcus needed to hear. dane isn't the only one who needs a boost of confidence. marcus needs to figure out how to get past the age issue that bothers hin so much because they are perfect for each other, inside and outside the dungeon.

i so love that edward pointed out that it was marcus dane trusted, not that dane easily trusts others. that poor boy has good reason not to trust any one. and trust works both ways. for me, trust is the main foundation of any type relationship, especially with someone you plan to spendthe rest of your life with. :) x
